Johor Weekend Escapade: Unveiling Personal Experiences

For those seeking a weekend retreat in Johor, here's a glimpse into my personal review of some accommodation options (Not in ranking order):

JB Getaway

Holiday Inn JB:

A delightful hotel with a convenient location near the checkpoint, City Square, and Komtar. A super convenient location with a pretty decent breakfast buffet. The location also allows for exploration of JB town and cafes, restaurants and sights.

St. Giles:

Popular among Singaporeans, this cozy hotel within a mall (Midvalley Southkey) is always buzzing with activity. Easy access to food and breakfast, but be prepared for crowds (especially during weekends)

Amari Hotel:

Offers pleasant rooms within walking distance to City Square and Komtar. Conveniently located opposite a halal food spot for breakfast and nearby Haidilao.

Suasana Suite (1-2 Bedrooms Apartment):

Adjacent to Amari Hotel, the room is decent, but be cautious about potential issues like leaking toilets. Consider Suasana Hotel for a more comfortable experience. Opposite, there are halal breakfast options and nearby Haidilao.

R&F Apartment (1-2 Bedrooms):

Personally, I enjoyed the balcony and varied views (sea, city, or pool). Security is tight, and it's a 15-minute walk to City Square/Komtar. Basic mall amenities, but excellent roti prata for breakfast.
Avoid the 1bedroom / studio facing the main road as traffic noise can be elevated during certain times and currently there are construction activities for the RTS line

Paradigm Residence:

Furniture seems new, and it's conveniently located within the mall. A short drive to Sutera mall area where you can find Pekin Restaurant. Highly recommended. Paradigm Mall is huge and allows for exploration with an ice skating rink, archery and many F&B options. Now as crowded as Southkey

D' Pristine Near Legoland:

An economical option but somewhat run-down. Manage expectations for a budget-friendly stay.

KSL Hotel/Apartment:

Mixed reviews – the hotel might not be exceptional, but the apartment experience depends on the host unit. Lower your expectations; the lift can be slow in both locations. The streets around KSL converts into a Pasar Malam on Monday evenings.

DoubleTree:

Warm and friendly staff, spacious rooms with a pleasant fragrance, and a clean, secure car park. No eerie or dim ambiance.

Z Hotel:

Spacious, but the water heater might be lacking, and the Wi-Fi could be slow. Opposite Chinese Heritage Street.

Opero Southkey:

Decent rooms, a massage place nearby, and a pretty decent hotel breakfast. Walking distance or shuttle service to Mid Valley Southkey Mall.

Thistle Johor:

Although I haven't stayed here, reviews suggest it's run-down, with dirty rooms, malfunctioning Wi-Fi, and not worth the stay.

Enjoy your stay in JB!!!
